Current Numbers: 4
Pack Status: Active. Designated in 2018.

The Nason Basin Pack was confirmed in 2018. The collared breeding male of the Strawberry Pack dispersed from this pack territory and paired up with another wolf to form this new pack on the lands of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation (CTCR). In 2018, one family member was killed in a legal hunt. At the end of 2018, the pack had six members and was considered a successful breeding pair for the year.
The Nason Basin Pack territory is on the tribal lands of the CTCR, so the family is managed by tribal, not state, leadership.
The state’s 2019 annual survey estimated six wolves in the pack, with pups confirmed; however, tribal biologists were not able to confirm this count. One pack member was killed in a legal wolf hunt on tribal lands.
The pack had a minimum of eight wolves in 2020. In 2021, nine wolves were legally hunted by the CTCR, leaving three wolves in the pack at the end of the year. In 2022, two more wolves were legally killed in this territory, and the pack disbanded.
In 2023, the pack re-established, despite continued hunting from the CTCR. Six more wolves were killed in 2023; however, two wolves remained at the end of the year.
In 2024, there were four wolves in the pack according to the end-of-year survey, though they were not considered a successful breeding pair. Three more wolves were legally killed in 2024.
