An uncollared female and OR-85, a male wolf collared by ODFW in February 2020, make up the Whaleback Pack, occupying a 480 square-smile territory in east Siskiyou County.
OR-85 was likely born in 2019 and dispersed from Oregon’s Mount Emily Pack before entering California in November 2020. The uncollared female is closely related to Oregon’s Rogue Pack, according to genetic analysis.
This pack produced seven pups in 2021.
