The Vulcan Pack was confirmed as a pack in 2020 after the annual survey confirmed a minimum of five wolves, including one breeding pair.
There were two wolves confirmed in the pack in 2021. In 2022, one wolf was illegally killed in the Vulcan Pack. This killing was under investigation until the statute of limitations expired in 2024. There were five wolves confirmed at the end of the year.
In 2023, one wolf from the Vulcan pack was killed by a landowner protecting livestock under the “caught-in-the-act” (CIA) rule. At the end of the year, there were only two wolves in the pack.
The pack dissolved in 2024, with only one wolf remaining in the pack territory.
