The Tower Mountain Pack

Current Numbers: 5

Pack Status: Active. Designated in 2022.

Union County Areas of Known Wolf Activity. ODFW

The Tower Mountain Pack was founded by OR96. OR96 is a male wolf from the Cornucopia Pack who established a resident use area east of Ukiah in late 2021. He was seen traveling with one other wolf during the winter count.

In 2022, OR96 and a female produced two pups that survived to the end of the year and were counted as a breeding pair.  With four wolves in the pack, they were officially designated as a pack and named Tower Mountain.

In 2023, no Tower Mountain Pack pups were known to survive until the end of the year, and the group was not counted as a breeding pair.  A total of four wolves were documented during the winter count.

The breeding female from the pack was killed by the department in response to livestock predation in 2024. The Tower Mountain Pack was not documented as a breeding pair for the year.  A total of five wolves, including one pup, were documented during the winter count.
