Pack Status: No longer active.

In 2015, reports of a wolf in Lake and Klamath counties were confirmed when it was determined that OR28, a two-year old collared female wolf from the Mt. Emily Pack, was using the area. By mid-2016, it was confirmed that she had paired up with OR3, an 8-year old male who dispersed from the Imnaha Pack. They had at least one pup.
Unfortunately, in late 2016, OR28 was found dead near Summer Lake, Oregon, in the part of Oregon where wolves remain federally protected under the Endangered Species Act. The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service offered a reward for information leading to the arrest of her killer.
A large wolf, possibly OR3, was occasionally seen in the area after that. The pup’s whereabouts were unknown. In 2017 and 2018, only one wolf was documented in this area.
A female wolf was radio-collared in November 2019. Another wolf was traveling with her in 2019; no pups were documented.
Two wolves were documented in the Silver Lakes AKWA at the end of 2020, however, no reproduction was documented.
The original Silver Lake wolves (OR28, OR3) are no longer present. The ADW and CDP have been discontinued. Wolf OR81 is still present and a new AKWA is designated showing the area she has been using. The Gearhart Mountain Pack are also now using the Silver Lake Wildlife Management Unit.
