The Scatter Pack

Current numbers: 5

Pack status: Active. Designated in 2023.

The Scatter Pack was formed in 2023 on the tribal lands of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation (CTCR) in Ferry and Okanogan Counties.

Since the pack’s territory is on the tribal lands of the CTCR, the pack is managed by tribal, not state, leadership. WA172M was collared in the Whitestone Pack by the CTCR biologists and was later recaptured in the Scatter Pack in 2023. By the end of the year, the Scatter Pack had seven wolves, with one wolf legally hunted by the CTCR.

In 2024, there were five wolves in the Scatter Pack, and it was not considered a successful breeding pair. One wolf from this pack was illegally killed by humans, and three wolves were legally hunted by CTCR. One of these wolves was a female wolf with swollen mammary glands, though it was unconfirmed if it was the breeding female.

In January 2025, one wolf from this pack was captured and radio-collared.
