The Light Ridge wolves were originally discovered as a pair of wolves traveling together in the former Horseshoe pack territory in 2023.
In 2024, they were designated as the Light Ridge group, with a total of three wolves, including one pup, documented during the winter count. They were not documented as a breeding pair.
They were officially designated as a pack in 2025, when a total of four wolves, including one pup, were documented during the winter count. The pack was not designated as a breeding pair, as the breeding female from the pack was legally killed by the Department in 2025.
