The Leadpoint Pack was confirmed in 2017 when a collared female wolf (WA70F) dispersed from the Dirty Shirt Pack in May to pair up with another wolf. At the end of 2018, the pack had two wolves and was not counted as a successful breeding pair.
In June 2019, state wildlife biologists found wolf sign in the area, but did not try to trap any wolves due to an ongoing logging operation in the area. In the 2019 annual survey, however, biologists found seven wolves in the pack and confirmed successful breeding.
The 2020 annual survey found a minimum of nine wolves in the pack and one successful breeding pair. A male wolf was collared in June 2020, and he dispersed south into the Carpenter Ridge pack territory in December 2020.
In 2021, there were 10 wolves confirmed in the pack. However, the pack size decreased to five by the end of 2022. One male wolf (WA114M) dispersed from the Leadpoint Pack territory in April 2022 and was last tracked east of Nelson, British Columbia, before a collar failure. Another male wolf from the pack (WA134M) dispersed from the Leadpoint territory in November 2022 and died in the Dominion Pack territory that same month.
Two wolves, an adult male and a yearling female, were killed by the Department in response to livestock predations in September 2022. One adult male wolf was illegally killed in the Leadpoint Pack in November. The illegal killing was under investigation until the statute of limitations expired in 2024.
The 2023 annual survey found seven wolves in the pack, with one natural death and one dispersal. WA155M, a yearling male, was collared in the Leadpoint Pack in May 2023, and in December, he left the pack, traveling throughout northeastern Washington and southern British Columbia before localizing in the Rocky Mountain Trench of British Columbia in September of 2024. In September, a female wolf was killed by a cougar.
In February 2024, a wolf was captured and collared in this pack by WDFW. In July, a yearling female was killed after reportedly chasing livestock. In September, WA145F, a collared female from the Onion Pack territory, dispersed into the Leadpoint territory. There were a minimum of six wolves confirmed in this pack at the end of the year.
