Little was known about three wolves documented in 2018 using the area around Cornucopia, at the intersection of Baker, Union, and Wallowa counties. However, in 2019, they raised three pups that were counted in the annual survey.
The pack had at least two pups that survived to the end of 2020, when they were again counted as a breeding pair. A minimum of eight wolves were counted in the winter survey.
In 2021, the Keating Pack had at least 10 wolves and produced at least three pups that survived to the end of the year. The pack was counted as a successful breeding pair. In March 2021, a collared subadult female wolf that dispersed from the Keating Pack was killed by poison.
Two wolves were documented in 2022 during the winter count, meaning the wolves no longer were designated a pack as defined by four or more wolves travelling together. Reproduction was documented, but they were not counted as a successful breeding pair. In August, the collared breeding male was shot at night at close proximity as it harassed horses near a family backcountry camping.
The Keating wolves were not documented as a breeding pair for 2023. One Keating wolf was found dead of unknown causes, and two were killed by poison. A total of three wolves were documented during the winter count.
The Keating Pack was not documented as a breeding pair for 2024. A total of two wolves were documented during the winter count.
