Pack Status: No longer active. Designated in Spring 2025.
The Ishi Pack was confirmed in the spring of 2025 in eastern Tehama County. The three wolves observed at the time were known as the “Eastern Tehama County AWA” before meeting the criteria of a pack, with evidence of consistent presence for six months.
Following the collaring of ICE04F, the subsequent location data for the Ice Cave Pack showed significant overlap with the areas of detection for the Ishi Pack. With the last confirmed sightings, independent of the Ice Cave pack, dating back to December 2024, the Ishi Pack is no longer reported as active. It is unclear whether the wolves declared the Ishi Pack were unique relative to the Ice Cave pack as no genetic information for the Ishi Pack was ever discovered.
