In 2018, two pairs of wolves were observed using this area.
In 2019, the radio-collared male that had been traveling with the female who nows heads the Desolation Pack paired up with an uncollared female wolf in early 2019. They raised at least three pups that were counted in the 2019-2020 winter survey. They were officially designated as a pack in 2019.
The Fivemile pack was counted as a breeding pair in 2020 and there were two pups that survived through the end of the year.
