In 2022, the Black Pines Pack was newly documented in eastern Union County. The group produced four pups that survived until the end of the year and was recorded as a breeding pair.
In 2023, no pups were known to survive until the end of the year in the pack, so the group was not counted as a breeding pair. A total of four wolves were documented during the winter count.
They lost pack status in 2024, with a count of only three wolves and no documented breeding pair, but they regained pack status in 2025 when the pack had five pups. In the 2025 winter count, seven wolves were counted in the pack.
